  • Remote Coach

Shane Perkins has been coaching weightlifting since 2015. He began coaching the sport at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater, where they won 3 consecutive men’s state championships in 2016, 2017, and 2018. From there, he went on to get his master’s degree in Exercise Science at Northern Michigan University, where he worked with international level athletes as a graduate assistant coach. At NMU’s Olympic Training Site, he took over as Interim Head Coach and was able to lead the team to a 2020 University National Championship.

Shane’s coaching style is different for each athlete because each athlete is different. He believes a weightlifting program should be personalized and tailored to an athlete’s needs and weaknesses. Strong communication between the coach and the athlete is paramount to the athlete’s success, and as a remote coach, Shane will prioritize that for every one of his athletes.
